Emergency Services

Sometimes, the unexpected happens. When it does, the Emergency Department at Moses Taylor Hospital is ready. And, because emergencies have no time limit, we are here, 24/7. Please, have someone drive you to the hospital when possible, or if you are in a critical situation, call 911, and an ambulance will bring you right in.

If your need is critical, please, call 911.

Where do I go?

From the Main Entrance, come to the information desk, they will direct you to the Emergency Department. After 9 p.m., enter through the far door on the left from street level.

If you park in the parking garage, take the elevator to first floor, walk down the corridor, and the Emergency Department will be on your right.

What should I expect?

We know that when you don’t feel well, every minute feels like an hour. We will make every possible effort to see you as quickly as possible. However, there may be critical times where our attention is needed, and it may require a short waiting time. Please know that you are important to us, and we will make every effort to care for you in a very timely manner.

What do I need?

Please bring a picture ID and insurance documentation with you to the Emergency Department. You might want to bring lists of allergies and medications with you if possible.

How long will it take?

It’s very difficult to predict how long you may be in the Emergency Department. Time is based on individual needs.

Discharge planning and follow-up care

A Moses Taylor physician or nurse will outline your plan of care as you are getting ready to leave the Emergency Department. Feel free to have an open dialogue with our staff. You may be sent home with documentation that describes what you will need to do to recover. Should you need prescriptions, we have an on-site Apothecary where you can get your medication before you leave the hospital. If you require additional observation, or need more extensive care, we will advise you of your best possible course of care based on your individual needs.
