Family Birthing Suites at Moses Taylor Hospital makes the birth of your baby an event for the whole family, while providing high-quality, state-of-the-art medical care. Our nurturing staff, our attention to every detail, and our promise to treat you and your family with care and compassion has earned us the HealthGrades® Maternity Care Excellence Award™ for three years in a row, which puts our Family Birthing Suites in the top 10% in the nation.
After your baby arrives, you will be transferred to the Mom/Baby area of Family Birthing Suites at Moses Taylor Hospital. All moms and babies wear a monitor, and every department on the floor is secure, so you can be assured that your baby is safe. You can keep your baby in your room with you or you may choose to catch up with a little sleep, while your baby rests in our nursery. The Mom/Baby unit of our Family Birthing Suites also has a beautiful community kitchen area that you and your family can use, for a late night coffee, or an early morning snack.
At Moses Taylor Hospital, we realize the choice to breastfeed your baby is a personal one, but we encourage you to consider the benefits of breastfeeding. Three lactation consultants are on staff and are available to answer any questions you might have 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, offering their expertise, guidance and support to you. While you are pregnant, we invite you to attend a support group meeting at least once. There are many reasons to consider breastfeeding, from physiological and psychological benefits to convenience and nutritional value. Talk to the lactation consultants at Moses Taylor Hospital to determine if breastfeeding is the right option for you and your baby.
Should an emergency arise, it's comforting to know that Moses Taylor Hospital has a Level 3A Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) right in Family Birthing Suites – with our physicians and staff ready at a moment's notice. Our NICU is designed to allow for more control of artificial and natural lighting, as well as significant noise reduction that will lower an infant's stress levels. Private rooms are uniquely designed to suit the needs of premature or critically ill newborns. State-of-the-art monitoring technology enables staff to observe every infant's condition.
As children in the NICU develop, the room can be used more traditionally, allowing more family members to interact with their newest family member. Each room has a small refrigerator for storing breast milk and plenty of storage. The NICU at Moss Taylor Hospital is one of only a few in the United States to offer the quiet, controlled atmosphere of private rooms. This unique environment helps foster the developmental care that babies need and allows families to be closer to their newest family member.
